Privacy Policy
Last updated Draft — 21 May 2026
Reminu helps you gather and keep the moments that matter — your own memories, and those of the people you care for. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers Reminu Life (your personal account) and the Reminu platform used in care settings.
The short version
Your memories are yours. We store them so you can keep and share them — we do not sell them, and we do not use them to train AI models.
To write narratives and transcribe voice recordings, we send your memories to trusted AI providers that process them only to perform that task.
You can access, correct, download, or delete your information at any time.
Information we collect
Account information — your email address, and a display name if you give one.
Your memories — the voice recordings, videos, photos, and text you add, the AI-written narratives and transcripts created from them, and details such as the date and place a photo was taken.
How you use Reminu — basic activity such as the journeys and sessions you take part in, used to show your progress and, in care settings, to support care.
Payment information — if you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment provider handles your card details; we do not see or store your full card number.
Technical information — standard log and device data needed to run the service securely.
How we use your information
To provide Reminu — to store your memories, organise them into albums, create narratives and transcripts, and show them back to you and the people you choose to share with.
To communicate with you — sign-in codes, and emails about your account and your memories.
To process payments for paid plans.
To keep the service safe and reliable, and to improve how Reminu works.
AI and your memories
Reminu uses AI to write warm narratives from your memories and to transcribe voice recordings. To do this, the relevant memory is sent to our AI providers, who process it only to perform that task and return the result.
We do not use your memories to train AI models, and we choose AI providers whose terms reflect that. [To be confirmed against each provider’s current data-processing terms.]
Who we share information with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Reminu. Each one may handle your information only to provide its service to us, under contract. We never sell your information. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
- Supabase — secure database and sign-in
- DigitalOcean — encrypted file storage for your memories
- Anthropic and OpenAI — AI narrative writing and voice transcription
- Resend — sending emails
- Stripe — processing payments for paid plans
- Upstash — protecting the service from abuse
Care settings and family access
When Reminu is used in a care facility, a resident’s identifying details are kept to a minimum — often only a first name or initials. Family members can view a resident’s album through a private link, without creating an account. Photos added by family are reviewed by care staff before the resident sees them.
Where a care facility arranges Reminu for its residents, the facility and Reminu each have responsibilities for resident information, set out in a separate agreement. [This facility arrangement needs its own legal review.]
Where your information is held
Your memories and account information are stored in Australia. When we use AI to create narratives or transcripts, that processing may take place overseas through our AI providers. [Cross-border handling to be reviewed under Australian Privacy Principle 8.]
Your choices and your rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, give you a copy, or delete it. You can close your account at any time.
In care settings, consent can be withdrawn — when it is, access is revoked and the resident’s information is handled as instructed.
To make any of these requests, email us using the address at the bottom of this page.
Keeping your information safe
Your files are stored privately and are never publicly accessible. Information is encrypted as it travels to and from Reminu, and access is restricted so people only see what they are meant to.
When you upload a photo, we remove hidden metadata such as GPS location and camera details before storing it.
Keeping and deleting information
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete a memory or close your account, we delete the associated information within [30 days], except where we must keep limited records to meet legal or accounting obligations.
Children
Reminu is intended for adults. Where a memory is about a child — for example, a parent recording their child’s early years — it is created and controlled by the adult account holder.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, let you know directly.
